TPunch: Some villas restrict by age because of their physical layout. SIB CEO for instance is a great villa with areas you could walk off the deck were you not careful.

I think in general, there has been more awareness of safety for children on the island in the last few years. Either that or I have become more aware of it. All and all I am glad for that. It is easy to let your guard down as a parent especially when on vacation. They are too precious to not keep a vigilance about it.

Also look at SIB MAI in St. Jean.L-shaped pool on a large pool deck from which you can view all of St. Jean Bay and the airport.Very large master suite with large TV and large comfortable seating area for veiwing.Beautifully decorated outdoor areas as well.A bedroom with twin beds also on same level.Upstairs a second suite with king sized bed. We've stayed there and have booked it again.Close to Andy's, La Rotisserie, shopping, etc.

As to narrowing down the list, give us some preferances.

Do you like to be on top of town with all the restos right at your feet? Would you prefer to be out in the country on some windswept hillside with nothing but azure water in your vista? Will your parents do a lot of beach time or are they more interested in sitting around the villa and taking it easy? How athletic is everyone? That is, do you want to be near places with good walking and jogging? Do you anticipate going to the beach twice a day everyday or are you going to just move into the villa and make use of the outstanding pool with only the occasional sojourn out for victuals? Does anyone need to be close enough to latenight watering holes that you can stagger home without using a vehicle?

Depending on your preferences, 'out and about' versus hunkered down in villa, our recommendations would change.

Of all the things you don't understand Mike, I'd put this one pretty low on the list.

You might think of Villa Voyageur in St. Jean.

First, the drive is simple, easy, no craziness whatsoever.

Second, The pool is on a lower level reached by stairs from the main level-with a child-proof locking gate and alarm.

Third, the main level has an outdoor living room and an indoor living room. The second level has two bedrooms and a bathroom, and the third level has a master bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. I know this room has AC, I never checked the others.

It's a really nice house. It's not super luxe-but it's really nice. I think it's 2150$ for the 3 bedroom rate in the off season, which means you could spend an extra 400$ a night on dinner.

You know, I was thinking that Au Petit Pont might be a good choice too. It has a view that villas 4x the price have-expansive views of St Jean and the runway-also not a bad drive-also close to all (Gustavia, Gouv and Saline beaches) Also pool on lower level-huge pool wih graduated wide steps-wide enough to lay on and be cool while sunbathing. 15+ villas over the years-all with pools-this was the largest by far. What a beautiful stay at this place- SBH Properties.
