We just returned from a Western Mediterranean Cruise (Splendor of the Seas with Royal Caribbean Cruise Line) and toured many places. One of which was Capri. It has many similarities to St Barts. Relatively hard to get to (hydrofoil or regular boats, no planes). Elegant shops and restaurants (tres expensive, more so than SBH). Plush hotels. Gorgeous scenery. An island for the rich and famous. Nice to visit but to stay we still prefer SBH.

Thats exactly what I thought when I visted Capri in 99'....I loved it, and it did remind me a lot of St Barts...without the beaches,...but I still prefer St Barts...did you do the Blue Grotto?

We did not do the Blue Grotto, not enough time. We had an ice cream (the Italian version, excellent), sat at a cafe, and watched the world go by while waiting for our hydrofoil.

We've gone global: John sent in a couple of great photos of him and his wife modeling their SBH t-shirts while on the Isle of Capri. I'll try to get them posted in the next few days.

FYI:
After renting a villa in St. Bart for the last several years I decided villas were the way to go....so I rented one on Capri. The villa options cannot compare with St. Bart. But the isle itself was fantastic.

We also found Capri enchanting. I recommend staying in Anacapri if you visit - much less crowded.

We visited Capri (and Positano) last September and enjoyed both immensely. Stayed at Caesar Augustus in Anacapri, which is indeed a nice location! I agree that one must spend the night to truly appreciate the island.
