Saline is our favorite beach...help!?...is it true that it is loaded with green seaweed? We are soon to arrive on the 18th after an idyllic holiday with our kids last March 2005, and are quite concerned about the weather, the wind, the beach erosion, the rain... We again bring our children and this time***gulp***grandpa, and would like to manage the expectations. Should we stock up on DVDs? Pray for ESPN for Grandpa? Nix St. Jean Beach despite staying at SIB BOR? What is going on down there?

We saw the seaweed a week ago. May be gone by now. If not by itself, the govt will "clean up" the beach. This is too important a beach to have it trashy. Not to worry.

There was quite a bit of seaweed in the water last weekend on Saline. Had to swim or wade through about 10 feet of it in the ocean before we could get out to clear water. One gal was holding handfuls of it while in the water and using it to scrub herself...quite amusing. A couple days later the seaweed was for the most part gone. Did see some in the water on the far ends of Saline on Friday. The seaweed that is left on the beach will be of no concern..not much of it. Most likely the beach will be like you remember it. No erosion on Saline this year that i could tell.
St. Jean beach was fine....not as much around Le Plage, but otherwise ok.

Yes I remember...was the day of carnival and a lot of SBH posters were at Select waiting for the parade to start. You had your camera ready. Actually one of your photos of Marius that day had Nancy and me in the background at Select. at Select

OHMIGOD. Seaweed? on a BEACH? guys, if the wind is blowing onshore, (from the ocean to the land), you may well have seaweed on the beach... Precisely how sterile would you like your marine environments? there may actually be FISH in there, too....
Better stick to the pool...
