Can anyone recommend a place to stay in Naples around the end of Jan. We are only going for four nights so I assume renting a condo would be out as I would think the minimum would be a week. Any nice hotels ( I would prefer smaller rather than larger) on or near the beach. And where is a good area to stay? I just booked $39 one way fares to Ft. Myers on jet blue. So I figured Naples would be a good place to stay. I don't think the last hurricane was too awful for them or am I mistaken? Thanks

We just got back from Fort Myers Monday. They weren't really hit too badly, just landscape damage for the most part. I didn't make it down to Naples, but I can highly recommend the place we stayed at, the Sanibel Harbor Resort and Spa.It's located right at the foot of the bridge going into Sanibel, before the toll. There are rooms, suites, and condos. We had a suite, which was perfect. I heard that La Playa Beach and Golf in Naples is really nice, and I have stayed at and loved the Hyatt Coconut Point Resort in Bonita Springs. PM me if you would like info on Sanibel Harbor..I loved it.

We have a second place in Naples...Wonderful area...A few hotels I would highly recommend, You mentioned a "smaller" hotel, "The Inn on Fifth" is right on Fifth Avenue. Larger hotel/ resorts are The Registry; Ritz Carlton is very nice, and if you prefer something a bit smaller and unique w/ all the "Resort" amenities, Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club www.naplesbeachhotel.com Has Tennis, rooms accessible directly to the beach etc. Right on Gulf Shore Blvd. There are some smaller places near "Venetian Village" as well. I will PM you with specifics. Have fun.

Maureen-
My wife & I live in Naples full-time; you are choosing a good time to visit. Many seasonal and vacation regulars aren't here due to H'cane Wilma, although it only did moderate damage to the foliage and some cosmetic damage to buildings. Stan's hotel reply is right on; although I'll add the Hilton Naples to the list (although not on the beach, it's a great hotel that allows pets and an easy trek to the Gulf) as well as the Hyatt Coconut Point (in Bonita, on the beach).
I work at the Humane Society here, and my wife is the pharmacist at the old Naples Fifth Ave. Pharmacy. Stop in to see her if you get sunburned! We are both huge St. Barts fans (been twice...so far).

Gator Eagle:
We made reservations at Old trianon-- the places directly on the beach such a Ritz are more than I want to spend for a quick trip to Florida-- some of the other ones have gotten some negative reviews on trip advisor so hopefully I have made a decent choice and have a good location. Might just stop in and see your wife...we are somewhat vets of SBH having gone almost ever year since 1990..
