Im having a blast my friend..and you know that....the plans are simply on the back burner...if they happen..great..if they dont......not a problem.....the consolation prize doesnt suck either...I live in places that people pay huge sums of money, and count down the days, to experience for just a week or two..... so dont worry about me.....LOL

Not worried in the slightest. I just know that your Exit Strategy includes being a Caribbean Boaty someday, sudsing from port to port. I can see you running a variety of small enterprises in the Caribbean someday. Perhaps Cappy Happy's Snorkel Service, or Mad Miker's Rhumarama.
A bottle of rhum and a little chow and you are good to go.
I, personally, need a little more Foo Foo. Got a/c on your Cheoy Lee?

In my research into Les Saintes, mostly through G-loop Brokers, Bankers and Attorneys, I found that the French Government is tying up most of the lands there as quickly as they are available to prevent another overdevelopment, now or for the future. Lots of Land Trusts and Green Space deeds going on the books in multi acre lots, like 9-22 acres at a time. And for me, staying that way is a little too quiet for me, for folks like MikeR looking for the almost totally unspoiled, it just might be as close as you'll ever find in that climate in the area. Having visited left me puzzled as I have told many, yet I didn't buy, but I liked it for a short visit. St.Barth has actually grown rapidly to where it is today, but it is unlikely Les Saintes will go in that direction as the French are actually trying to deter it for the long time residents there. And as I learned from Erma and others, the neighboring Islands there are very appealing.

In '92, worried that SBH was changing for the worse, we went to Les saintes for a week, before going to SBH for a second week.Stayed in the same Auberge, too, and loved every minute of it it - rented bicycles- the whole bit.But- you know what- it wasn't SBH.We never went back- and we've gone back to SBH every year since(and now twice a year) We've done the same thing with Bermuda (which is obviously different from SBH and Les saintes) There are many wonderful spots in the world But there is no place like SBH, and no place will ever be "the new SBH", or the "SBH of 20( or even 30) years ago."There is only one St Barts

I agree with all of that Lloyd....but you know if I could do both places that would be the best of both worlds.....Les Saintes would be a nice trip back in time....to something similiar to the St Barts I stumbled on 25 years ago...not the exact same in terms of physical things, of course I know that, but the same in spirit and ambience and simplicity...remember when St Barts' luxury was its simplicity???..I know you do because I've discussed it with you when we met........and then maybe a trip to St Barts in the off season to enjoy the island in its "quiet time", which is still very bearable, as you discovered this past June...but there is no freakin way I could ever do St Barts in high season...no way...given my history with the island, and what initially made me become attached to it spiritually, it would unnerve me to no end.....God bless you ol timers who can do it because I know I can't
