Hi guys, going to St Maarten Nov.12-19.....with an overnight in St Barths the 16th. We are staying at Divi, with our daugher, her boyfriend, and our son and his girlfriend. They are all 22-25 yrs. old. AND they can eat!!!! So, we are looking for some more inexpensive lunch-dinner places.....although we will go to a few nice for dinner, Italian?? We are all ready plnning on Do Brazil for lunch and Andys for dinner in SBs. Our daughter went to school in Florence for a few months, so shes dying for Andy's pizza after I have been telling her about it!!!Cool bars in Phillipsberg anyone?? Well thanks for any suggestions! LindaP

LindaP,
For dinner, try Lee's Roadside Grill, Hot Tomatoes & Ric's Place...all have good moderately priced food, nice atmosphere & would be good for a small group like yours.
For lunch, I'd head to any of the places along Orient Beach. Coco Beach Bar & Bikini Beach Bar being my favorites.
For nightlife, try the Lady C Floating Bar or the Sunset Beach Bar amongst many others.
Hope this helps a little.
Eric

Our only nightlife on SXM was one night when weather forced us to stay over. We were put up at the Caravanserai and therefore took our dinner that evening at the Sunset Bar at the foot of the runway. Decent burgers, great atmosphere, cute as a button South African bartender who claimed she "could not make a good marguerita". Yeah, BS that. It was fantastic. And she was not, in any way, stingy with the short chain hydrocarbons either. Two of those and it is off to beddy-by.

I liked the vibe at this place. Kind of happenin although not rowdy.

You are a little bit from Grand Case but all the really good restaurants are there. Spiga, near the Grand Case airport is one of the best Italian and the Lolos in Grand Case are very reasonable and make a mean Grilled Lobster. Le Balaou next to the Le Petit Hotel is the best deal on the island- 1 euro to 1 dollar- and the food is outstanding. Right on the beach and if you tell Joel the owner that Andy from Philly sent you, you will get a complimentary drink. The Beach Bars at Orient are OK for Burgers and such but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there.
As for the bars in Phillipsburg, I don't go there at night. You can have a good time at all the bars on the other side of the airport at the Maho Hotel complex.
