Everyone please keep Roy and Dee in your thoughts and prayers again with this one. It looks as though they are definitely going to be on the "bad side" of this one. We will post as soon as we hear from them if they are not able to post.

It looks like I don't need to worry about the two of you, so I'll have extra time to worry 'bout Roy and Dee.

Yes, we're doing fine here...not much rain and a little wind as she passed us by (another sigh of relief heard in these parts). But they are still holding their breath in L.A.

Roy and Dee just checked in. They are safe and sound and have hunkered down at work. They have no power and no news on the outside world as far as their home etc, but they are safe and well.

M & J,
Thanks for the update. I was worried about them. Please wish them "Bon Courage" from me when you next communicate.

M & J: Is everyone still doing okay ? Have you heard from R & D ? CNN has been showing horrendous footage. We are concerned for you all and hold you in our thoughts and prayers.

Tim, I will give them your message.
DebTor, we are fine where we are. The most we had was a steady wind since she came ashore in Ft. Lauderdale that lasted until mid afternoon yesterday. I'm not sure if it was wind from Katrina, or everyone's sigh of relief that she wasn't going to hit us.
We have not spoke to R&D since yesterday afternoon when they called to say that they were fine. They could not make it home at that point and probably still can't. They promised they would call in a few days with an update, and I'm sure they are extremely busy right now, so I don't want to call them. Phone lines, as well as cell phone towers as well as cell towers are intermittant at best, so I will keep those lines free for others. I did pass on the message to them that I was keeping the forum updated and they thanked me for that. When they call again with an update, I will definitely let everyone know. But most importantly, we know that they themselves are okay.

Thank you all so very much for the kind words and prayers. As Martin and Janine have relayed to you, Dee and I are indeed fine. We weathered the storm at our hospital where we spent a rather intense 48 hours taking care of storm victims of one sort or another. For the past three days we have been overwhelmed with waves of displaced patients being flown, driven, or carried in from Louisiana, Mississippi, and parts of Alabama to our hospitals in Mobile. Though Mobile is still largely without power, at least we have our lives and our homes in tact. We are merely inconvenienced.
Those who are really suffering are our brothers from coastal Mississippi and from Louisiana. The stories we hear from these survivors are chilling and heart rending. Not one patient we have cared for from the storm area has a thing but the clothes on his back to call his own now. Between the tears, it has been impossible to feel anything but blessed that we have the opportunity and the ability to help in some small way.
As I am sure you have all seen, this is an epic, ongoing tragedy with real heroes and villans. Dee and I are very much on the periphery of the area of destruction, and we are doing just fine. Do send your prayers to those who have lost everything in MS and LA. The heroes of this story, to me, are those who are opening their homes, pocketbooks, and hearts to the thousands of displaced persons in a time of such bottomless need.
