Having just returned from our first trip we paid careful attention to what people on the forum had to say and it paid off. But........ always leave room for adventure. MikeR, Eddie, Martin & Janine and BarbH were great on insight. I have to agree with the idea of catching the breezes if you can. We stayed on the top or the ridge seperating Petite & Grand Cul de Sac and the air was always moving to one degree or another. And you will find that you will be moving around a fair amount so get the car. Dont take travelers checks because you will loose $5.00 / $100.00 on the exchange rate difference i.e. .81% to euros against .76% 0n travelers checks. Use your visa card for diners and purchasing for the best exchange rates. There is no such thing as a cheap meal even when the price is seemingly lower. Basicly a 10Euro item = $12 US. I highly recommend the Havana Club Rum when you hit the supermarket "Match" across from the airport. My next trip I will maybe look for a villa around Lorient or St Jean to be a little more centeraly located although we reallllllllly liked Case a FoFo.

we stay so on the water we re practically in the water, and we find that it is always nice and cool when you are that close to it...also bugs dont like to be near saltwater so thats an added plus.... to me there is nothing like having a great cup of coffee while sitting by the water in the very early morning hours and just listening to the soothing sounds of waves breaking just below you....but its all good either way...Ive done the hills too and that has its perks as well

carleson...you re not alone...I dont get this pool thing on a Caribbean island either....LOL

We also like to stay on or very near to the beach. But, what's wrong with having both the beach and the pool right at hand? I like getting off the beach, back to the accommdations and taking a nice dip in the pool to remove sand, salt and grime before going back to the room or going out to lunch. It's also good to have when you have two active little boys that like to go swimming and can't handle the surf if the wind kicks up.
take care

Nothing wrong with that George..was looking at it from a different perspective being as I have no kids.Whatever keeps the little ones happy and busy is a good thing.Frankly I don't have the cash to blow on a place with the beach and the pool...so I choose the beach every time...if I can find a place that fits my budget, which that particular villa does...which is what I was trying to pass on
