Les Saintes new

There is a rather nice article in the current issue of Islands Magazine about Les Saintes for those interested as below. I couldn't find it online:

"On Island
Guadeloupe’s Saintly Sisters, By Joan Tapper
Like St. Barths without the attitude, the Iles des Saintes are a bit of Brittany in the Caribbean."

Ric, didn't you visit there? Was there a trip report that I missed?

Rick-

Thanks for the heads up about this article-I will have to locate this issue.

As you know we spent a couple of weeks last December touring Guadeloupe (only Pointe a Pitre for overnights), Marie-Galante, and Les Saintes (Terre de Haut and Terre de Bas). Writing a trip report for this journey has been difficult at best to start (6 planes; 3 ferries; 5 separate rental cars; 1 rental scooter; 5 taxi's in two weeks). The real problem is how to give my opinion of the islands....

Les Saintes (I am assuming they are meaning TdH in the article) may not have the sassy upscale 'tude that St. Barth can pull off in the high season...but it sure has its very own distinct variety that is tough to describe. I can assure everyone that TdH and SBH are not to be compared on most levels...but on a few there are loose comparisons.

I really must just sit down and put this trip down in words....maybe IV could be my ghost writer! Marie-Galante...that's another one I have to find a way to describe-to us it was nearly heaven and just amazing-but certain aspects of the island must be understood before venturing down and I can also assure you that this island is NOTHING like St. Barth...unless you want to count the amazing beaches and they speak French/Creole!

I would be happy to answer any specific questions about these three (MG, TdH, TdB) islands (*with a new Aussie puppy I will respond as soon as possible :-) and I will try to put a trip report together.

Best regards, Erma

Erma,

I'd love to hear the report.
