Is there a reason I should arrange a charter flight instead of taking WinAir? I flew WinAir from SXM last time I visited St. Barths (April, '02) without any problems.
Thanks!

The only reason that I sometimes charter is when i have a large group accompanying me. With a large group you can cut costs by going with a charter.

At today's exchange rate the cost of a charter, a 10 minute flight, is $716.15 one way - 550 Euros, plus the 2% foreign exchange fee that your credit card company is going to hit you with. In my opinion, there are four reasons to charter:
1) What Phil said - you have a large group and the math works out to be cheaper than Winair.
2) You have a late arriving flight, are worried about being stuck on SXM for the night, and are willing to pay any price to get to SBH rather than spend the night on SXM.
3) You just can't abide SXM's Princess Juliana International Airport and want out of there ASAP with a minimum of contact with anyone. (A cheaper alternative is to engage Saint Barth Services to smooth your way.)
4) You have too much money.
I've chartered twice when it made sense to me to do so. Unfortunately, #4 was not the reason either time...

Thanks for the info! After I posted the question I found the section of the site which explains about charters - duh! :-)
