Has anyone villa or hotel experience in Guadeloupe--we are planning four nights there in february on the way to St Barts. I am especially curious about hotel Anse des Rochers in the Sainte Francois area--are the "villas" worth the extra cost and what is the condition of the beach there?

Personally I think the St. Francois area is nicer than Gosier, which is getting a bit more tacky. The beach there is very nice, and you can also access the very nice public beach in St. Anne as well as Plage Caravelle at Club Med (all Guadeloupe beaches including Club Med's are public - you just can't use Club Med's chairs or facilities).

Paul-Thanks for the advice for Guadeloupe. I e mailed several hotels a week ago with no response even though their web site was in english, so must have my wife try again in french.
