Three great choices, Linda (especially Capri) -- and believe me, you can't go wrong in most Roman restaurants. Just pick a sidewalk trattoria and have a seat. If you're not adverse to sitting among the tourists (people-watching being a sport there anyway), pull up a table at one of the eateries in Piazza Navona, or head down the narrow cobblestone alleyways behind the Fountain of Trevi (and don't miss the gelato or the shoe stores; also a a great place to buy men's ties right there -- reasonably priced too!). I've eaten in many restaurants in Rome and never had a bad meal. And when in Capri, don't miss a trip to the top (called Anacapri) -- definitely a better place to dine than the base of the island. Try the gnocchi (and fish, of course) any time you're in Naples. September is a great time to travel the boot, too.

Buon viaggio e tante belle cose!
Sandy

you cant go wrong anywhere...Italy is like France...there is no bad place per se...only degrees of good.....we ate at a bunch of places in Rome and Florence...all great food... couldnt tell you any of the names.... all little local joints...just get off the main vein and look down the side
streets....the smaller the better.....there were some really neat little places in and around Peruzzi Leather ( which is a mustr stop) in Florence.....if you walk by a tratorria and you dont see many americans and lots of Italians...go for it..thats where the good stuff is!...Capri rocks....its as good as St Barts in every category, except for beaches..the better restaurants are up the at the top of the island...take the cable car up and walk around there away from the masses.... the smelll of lemons from the trees is magnificent....and yes, as Sandy said, Sept is a great time to go......October even better.....thats when the chestnut harvest occurs

There is a little, inconspicuous restaurant on the Piazza del Medaglie D'Oro, just a short hop down from the Cavalieri Hilton. It looks like a pizza place. The chef's neighborhood nickname is L'Assassino (because he kills you with food). His real name is Nazareno Ricci, and he is the chef and owner of La Serenissima, a tiny family run establishment that is frequented by the pro tennis players when they are in town. On the wall you will find photos of Jennifer Capriati tossing spaghetti with Ricci, Pete Sampras wolfing down a meal fit for a king, etc. Don't order from the menu. Let "The Assassin" minister to your gastronomical needs. There is no English spoken here, but then again, in Italy, love and food are the universal languages.

We just returned from Capri, so if you have any questions about Capri, send me a PM. We absolutly loved Capri, especially in the evening.
