I am happy to announce another SBHOnline supporter -- Plongée Caraïbes
We were on the island in June and two of Bob's kids got their PADI certification with Plongée Caraïbes and it really seemed like a great program (recommended to us by Rosita). Marion and Franck are extremely nice people and speak great English and they have the largest dive boat on the island. Bob and I both did our first dives ever -- guided one-on-one dives -- and loved it. I highly recommend it if you have never tried it. It is a fantastically beautiful world down there.

Hi Kara, Did Bob's kids do their check out dives when they were there, or were they already certified? Were they required to do alot, do you remember? Like clear mask, buddy breathe etc, etc. My husband would like to get certified next sbh trip. I got certified years ago on St John and it was a pleasure. Beats a cold Quarry in upstate NY.

Definitely beats a cold quarry in upstate NY! The kids had never dived before (one had never even tried snorkeling). They did everything you mentioned -- cleared mask underwater, buddy breathing, rescue techniques, navigation (they had to find a wreck with only a compass on the last day) and all sorts of other stuff that I can't remember. They also had to pass a written exam (and actually had to study the dive book). They both REALLY enjoyed it. I can't remember how many hours it took but they went on quite a few dives (although it was easily completed in a week).

ah yes...ol Boyles Law......I remember it well....welcome to the wonderful world of undersea living........best thing about being underwater???....everyone has to actually shut up for a half hour.......the silence is magnificent....and if you have a bad back and can get yourself neutrally bouyant....its a temporary god send!.....like being 16 again.....until you get out of the water...and of course all of the cool creatures to see and visit with while in their world.........I have had nice dives with Plongee Caraibes too......very nice people
