My flight itinerary to St. Barths is like many of yours, I'm sure.
I arrive St. Maarten from Miami. Instead of getting anxious about the possibility of missing my flight to St. Barths, we will stay overnight one night and get to St. Barths the next day.
Recommendations?
At this point, we haven't decided if we even will fly over the next day or take the ferry (French side, right?).
In any case, I'd like a recommendation. (for this one night, it doesn't have to be a Relais Chateaux! But convenient/beach?? would be good)

Try www.sxm-hotels.com. The ferry leaves from Marigot, Philipsburg or Oyster Pond. Take your pick. There is really nothing on the beach in Marigot. Phililsburg has hotels on the beach. Do a search.

If you take the ferry, Maho is as good a place as any. Good restaurants in the complex. There is a beach albeit the planes fly directly overhead, but that never bothered us. There is Mary's Boon, but I prefer Maho. More modern, etc. If you decide to fly, why not fly out of Grand Case airport on the French side. There are several small hotels in Grand Case right on a marvelous stretch of beach and you can walk up and down the main street there and take your pick of any one of the outstanding restaurants.

Take the money you'd spend in SXM and hire Saint Barth Services and you'll make the flight hassle free.

Totally agree with BillK. I wasn't sure from your posting whether you were arriving so late in the afternoon that you would miss the last flight to SBH. Contact Brice at St. Bart Services. They are amazing. We use them all the time.

We are staying in the Beach Plaza in Marigot, it is at the marina, close to restaurants and from there you can easily get to the Grand Case aiport and fly St Barth Commuter to St Barts. This hotel is on the beach, the rates are reasonable and there is a swimming pool.

You might consider the recently opened Royal Turtle, located just across from the (Dutch side) airport.
It has some pretty decent prices, and is getting some good reviews.
