I havent been there but I have a good friend who is from there and she loves the place....and she has always said it is a great mellow resort with good terrain which would make it very much like the places I listed in the previous post in ambience and volume of people etc....

Have been to Sun Valley. Liked both the mountain and the town. Unfortunately, the conditions were not good when we there in the Spring a couple of years ago. Also like Beaver Creek. Will be there this weekend! Sounds like it is warm there, Miker. Hopefully conditions are not deteriorating too fast!

pdaddy..I have never seen anything like this...80's in Denver today... high 50's here..... at first we were pretty psyched at what we thought was a short term warm up....we are losing snow fast as the sun is extremely strong this time of year, at this elevation and latitude, and this has been a cloudless weather pattern....we won't tbe skiing in June like we normally are at this rate....of course we can get 3 feet next week and all will be good again....but long range does not look good at all...and we have a county full of spring breakers that arent very happy.....
guess they should just go shopping......:-))))

According to the Beaver Creek website they have something like a 50 inch base. Is that a snowjob? What are the conditions like this weekend? I'm getting that sinking feeling...

S,
You might consider diverting to Kirkwood, deep deep base.

50 inch base???...maybe a little bit overstated.....I was out today for a few runs before work and the steep stuff and moguls were a bit ragged looking.....the flatter terrain looked ok.....a similiar thing happened last year ( although not as extreme) and the following week we got a 30 inch dumping....we can hope for a repeat....noramlly next week would be a perfect time to come here...the crowds start to thin next week and the weather is usually still snowy but not cold.....they are calling for low 60's through MOnday in Summit County...and the Beav is about 2000 feet lower in elevation then us....so I dont know what to tell you that could be construed as good news here....Im not even going to ski tomorrow morning...Im goin to Denver to attend the NCAA games...I'll hear plenty about how it was when I get back and I'll let you know.....

Mike R, Can you give us Front Range skiers a Summit County/Vail/Beaver Creek ski report? It's been so hot the last few weeks and now its raining like crazy here and planning to snow Saturday. What's it look like up there? Any recommendations on the best resorts to hit this weekend? I'm thinking about Beaver Creek as I'm guessing that it might have received and kept the most snow. Besides, I haven't been there yet this season. If it looks like I'm going to destroy some skis on exposed rocks, I might just stick around here this weekend.
Thanks for any help.

No problem.....in a word...it sucks...the exceptions to that are definetly Loveland and A Basin who got most of the recent snow...we are getting plenty of snow but its still warm so the snow is turning to mashed potatos pretty quick....anything under 9000 feet is in poor shape.....west of here...i.e Vail and Beaver are terrible...I just got back from Steamboat which was awful ( its a good thing I dont pay for lift tickets or I wouldnt have a sense of humor about all this )....from there I went to Park City which was quite good compared to Colroado resorts.....but we are suppose to get a pretty good storm this weekend and the temps today are at least in the 40's instead of the high 50's and its snowing lightly as I post this...so thats from here....
personally I would just ski A Basin up above 12,000 feet from here on in and that is were I will be on Sunday morning
