Help! The name of a Connecticut restaurant?? new
      #15824 - 03/25/04 08:36 AM

I read a review probably around a year ago (99% sure it was in the NY Times) of a small restaurant in Western Connecticut that is run by a husband and wife team. They are the only employees (kind of like Trois Force) and for the life of me I cannot remember the name/town. Any of you Nutmegers out there have any idea what the name is?

Kara,
I'll check around but I can't think of any restaurants with just the husband & wife & no other employees. Two restaurants that come to mind as having both a husband & wife involved are Jean Louis in Greenwich & Luca's in Wilton; both are small but have a few other employees. Will post if I come up with any others.
Julie

Kara,

Do you mean Seminara's in Westport?

Kara - The Homestead Inn (Greenwich) was recently profiled in the NYT. New owners, chef and wife bought the whole dang thing. Good place to stay - although you and Bob could find free (well, cheaper, anyway)lodging down the street at my house and the restaurant has always received rave reviews - the new owners are upholding that tradition, I've heard - I myself haven't eaten there since the transfer.

Many thanks for the suggestions but none of those sound like this elusive mystery establishment. I think it was somewhere near Newtown, CT but is possible that that it was in Westport (random I know - but my sister lives in Newtown and my brother in law works in Westport and I know there was some sort of connection (not that they have the slightest idea what the restaurant is named)). Thanks anyway . . .

Well Kara, I read in the Times today that the Oyster Bar strike is finally over so at least you'll have some place to eat when you're near western Connecticut.
Nice new look for this website, but it doesn't seem to be running well on my Mac.I sense another conspiracy.

Kara,
This is a long shot, but could that restaurant be just across the state line in New York? We have friends whose daughter and son-in-law went to The Culinary Institute and opened a place they run themselves in Red Hook, NY. The critics apparently love the place. It's called Mina and has a website: www.minarestaurant.com. They are Natalie and John DiBenedetto.
Good luck!
Tim

Tim - Thanks for the suggestion - Mina sounds great but the place that I am thinking of is somewhere in Western Connecticut.

(Thrilled to hear that the Oyster Bar strike is over!)
