advice??.. yeah, do it....it ranks in my top three dives ever....right up there with Belieze and the Coral Sea.....and the airplane ride will make the landing in SBH look tame....Saba is a great island albeit very different from all the others...

You must dive Saba. Roger and I have been there at least 6 times and each time stayed 6 to 10 days. The diving is superb. Being a marine reserve, its guaranteed. I would recommend Mike Myers of Saba Deep Dive. They believe in small groups and are extremely attentive. If you book through Mike, tell him Deb and Roger Best say hello. He also serves a great lunch after your morning dives at his pub - In Two Deep - attached to dive shop. Ask him to take you to Diamond Rock - one of the best dive sites ! Let us know what you decide, if you go, etc.

DO IT!
Last year, ('03) winair instituted direct service to Saba from SBH, i believe on Wednesdays...check and see if it's still offered, because then you can do the trip in a day...leave SBH @ 9:30 or so, return 4:30, and no, there's no problem with flying after diving because the aircraft doesn't fly high enough to cause DCI problems...I booked online with Sea Saba, (Lynn) (http://www.seasaba.com/)who had a driver meet me at the airport..BTW, sit on the RIGHT side of the aircraft landing at Saba...if you like landing in SBH, you'll LOVE landing in Saba..it's been compared to an aircraft carrier landing, lotsa fun watching the cliffs whiz by 20 feet from your right wingtip...
Rodales lists Saba as one of the top 10 sites in the world...Sea saba has Nitrox if you're certified...first dive was 3rd Encounter, which is famous...3 pinnacles jut up from a plateau at 100 feet?....with a slope on the side that just goes down down down...I also loved Tent Reef, which is canyons or alleys in the rock ab25-30 Ft top to bottom , running paralell to the island...amazing coral and fish life, I spent 45 minutes just swimming up and down the "alleys" in about 50 feet of water...
BTW...first "drive up" dive shop i ever encountered...taxi pulls up out front, staff comes out with clipboard, examines C cards, sign waiver, and down the hill to the harbor...go to the sea saba dive site, will give you all sorts of info on the island itself and the dive sites...
one last note....winair CANCELLED my return flite to SBH...sent in a plane to take 3 of us to SXM, where we ran across the tarmac to another aircraft which hustled us to SBH by sunset...was NOT looking forward to a nite in St Martin in a t shirt, bathing suit and sneakers...LOL
I wouldn't miss it...and will get back one of these years, altho Statia is calling me, also....LOL

Saba is an incredible dive spot. The Pinnacles are the most incredible dive I have ever experienced. Go!!
