being one who lives in a beach town people pay thousands of dollars to be at and enjoy and a mountain town that people also pay thousands of dollars to be at and enjoy, the sad truth of the matter is we locals get so wrapped up in our day to day lives ( remember..we are not on vacation ) that we start to take it all for granted after a while....oh we still love it and all but its just something we are over exposed to so it sort of slips into the background of our daily life.....even today, we have a beautiful fall day, the sky is deep blue and the colors on the ski mountain are starting to really show, and yet I didn't truly take notice of it all out my office window until I read your post ...and the same thing happened to me when I lived in St Croix...at first it was "oh m God this is so beautiful.."...and after a year I didn't even notice it any more......so thats probably why the locals on St Barts are not stopping or slowing down at every vista and taking it all in...

Strange but true:
Sometimes it takes a dog to realize the beauty of an area.
Every day I walk my German Shepherd along the Chicago lakefront.
One of our regular stops is Olive Park (just north west of Navy Pier), which juts into the lake.
If my wife and the twins are not along, at the end of the park, the dog will often decide to lay down.
He is absolutely right, of course. It is quiet and peaceful with incredible views (and some good sticks and interesting smells). What a perfect place for a short nap.
I'm usually so intent on getting the walk in and returning home (either to help out with the twins or to get to the office) that I rarely just stop there.

Reminds me of my first trip to San Diego after spending a miserable winter of Navy training in Newport. The cab driver picked me up at the airport to go to the base and I remarked it was such a beautiful day. He stuck his head out the window and said it looks like every other day to him. Such is life in paradise!

Just imagine the comments I will receive if I suggest that the restaurant at Eden Rock change the way tuna is prepared!

ER only uses pre frozen fish so it really doesn't matter how they prepare it because to the sophisticated pallet ( at least in terms of seafood ) its all crap anyway
but hey....
at least the view is nice ;-)))))
