Team Skeeter in SB, Part Five (Day Three)
      #137655 - 07/25/08 10:07 AM

July 19 started as the prior days did -- I woke up early, starred out at the ocean from our bed, and then went for a swim.

Around 7:30, I decided that I needed a nice shower, which was a questionable move since it woke up the other half of Team Skeeter. What have I learned in 10 years of marriage? Let A Sleeping Wife Lie. In any case, she woke up in a great mood (that will happen on SB) and we decided that after the prior day's IDF breakfast, we should try the local bakery instead. You need to realize that we had spent a week at IDF about three years before, and we had driven the route towards St. Jean a few times this trip, but I still had no idea where this "bakery" might be. Luckily, my friend Voosh had provided very clear instructions. When we followed those directions, we realized that another tip off as to the location should have been that the sign for the bakery was about six feet high. How we missed it on prior trips remains a mystery. We went in, bought a few pastries, two lattes, and headed back to Triagoz.

Given that it was already hot at 8:00 a.m., my wife had the great idea to pour the lattes over ice. Triagoz was stocked with hurricane glasses perfect for the job.

The pastries and the coffee were wonderful.

While relaxing and enjoying the breakfast, we heard a strange sound. We went over to the edge of the deck and at that point, realized that we should call the villa's owner with some terrible news:

"Mon. Guegan, I regret to inform you that goats -- yes goats -- have eaten your prized agave."

Which was followed by me uttering a line I expect to hear repeated back to me for the next fifty years. For some reason, I thought that these were tame goats used to dealing with humans.

As I looked down, I said, "Helloooo, Mr. Goat." Turns out that they are not thrilled about being disturbed while eating agave, so they scampered off.

The report on the rest of the day to follow.

That first picture is worthy enough to be on a postcard.

I agree with Martin. That first shot is indeed terrific! We need to have a photo contest featuring food and drinks.

Yes! Great shot.

If the "bakery" sign was 6 feet tall, I must be about 7'2". [NOT] Glad you found it. More importantly, I hope you agree, after ya stock up on basics at Match, why go anywhere else in the AM?

Re: goats. I've had the pleasure(?) of pulling one out of the pool. Who says they don't slip anytime? Who says I can't yowl like a banshee? (those little twerps can kick in the wrong spot each time - I think I coulda given any falsetto group a run for their money that time.)

Thanks for the updates. So glad SBH is treating you well.

Voosh
