My wife and I just got back from our first trip to St. Barts, and we absolutely loved it. We stayed in a hotel, but we are thinking about a villa for next time, and would like some help, please.
First, it looks like there are several websites that list villas, and each villa is listed on just one of the sites, meaning I need to search several sites to find the right villa. Is this correct? If so, what website has the most comprehensive list of villas?
Second, we are looking for a one bedroom, and lots of villas list a one bedroom price for a 2 or 3 bedroom villa. What does this mean - that they just close off the other bedrooms? Are there advantages or disadvantages to this option?
Lastly, our perfect villa would be a one bedroom with a private pool overlooking or close to Gouverneur. Any suggestions?
Thank you for your help!

It's terrific that you sre now hooked on St. Barth---you will love staying at a villa. Some villas are listed & handled by one agency exclusively; other villas are listed by multiple agencies. It is up to the owner. We have only used WIMCO which has an excellent website; however, I think St. Barth Properties and other agencies also have very good websites. St. Barth Properties probably has more listings of one-bedroom villas than WIMCO does.
The one-bedroom option offered at some larger villas, especially in the summer season, is a wonderful opportunity to get more for your money. Most villas won't offer a breakdown rate in the Christmas-New Year's period. The 2,3,4 (& Up) bedroom villas generally have larger terraces, pools and main rooms than do the one-bedrooms. Usually the other bedrooms are open & you can store your luggage in them but sometimes the owner prefers that they be locked. The maid will only be required to clean/make-up one bedroom if you are renting the villa as such. I can't think of any disadvantages if you can find a great villa with a one-bedroom rate.
Since you seem to have a location preference, once you have an idea of your dates,I suggest calling a couple of the agencies to get some advice & then checking out the villas they suggest on their websites. It does require that you spend a little time searching online but that's part of the fun!
You should post on this forum the names of the villas you are considering (You can also try to find information by entering the villa name or code in the Search category) & you'll get immediate feedback if people have information. Lastly, don't forget to check the list of villas available to rent directly from owners. Julia

Hi!
We just returned from St. Barts and divided the time between (2) villas.
We have always gone through WIMCO to rent our villas.
We could definietly recommend two of our favorite one bedroom villas:
SLB and BBK.
the prices are definitely different as well . . .
SLB is priced right AND it has a unique upper deck that overlooks Gustavia Harbor. It is very private and the pool is wonderful. The main house is small, but does have a second bedroom.
BBK is private also, but we decided to go with the lower priced villa this year.
Our favorite way to hunt for villas is to start on the www.wimco.com website. It is user-friendly and fun to look at the different price points and narrow in on what you must have in a villa selection.
Our criteria is: privacy, pool, views, economical, and quite.
Happy hunting! You won't be disappointed by renting a villa instead of a hotel.

We second Fins suggestion of Villa Diaco from St Barth Properties. We just returned from there celebrating our 40th anniversary and had a marvelous time! It is very private and romantic, although you will have to drive to any beaches you want to go to.
This was our second time there. The view is spectacular with both magical sunrises and sunsets to enjoy. The panoramic Atlantic Ocean sights include St Martin in the distance. You can watch planes taking off in daytime and lounge and/or swim under the stars at night.
A perfect place to enjoy paradise.

Looking for the villa is half the fun! The top companies let you search by bedroom, by price, by area and of course by date...so you can really narrow it down. When I made my latest reservation for August in SIB MAG, I used an advanced search tool on Wimco to see only villas that have AC and WIFI. So have fun. By the way, I don't think there are too many 1 bedrooms in the Gouverneur area, but you might find a larger villa there that offers a one bedroom option in the summer.

I agree with the suggestions of Villa Diaco....very nice, private, great views and reasonably priced.
You mention that you were interested in the area near Gouverneur. Did you look into Villa Mimosa? It's on the road to the beach. A one-bedroom with great views and a pool. We rented it through SB Properties.
I can send you photos of either villa. PM me you email address if you want to see them.
Happy villa hunting...an enjoyable activity in itself!
