Good,,, if you're a duck...
While everyone is watching the Atlantic east of the Windward Islands for development, development may actually occur closer to home in the northeastern gulf. The image below shows the area of concern and the possible path out of the gulf and the possible impact across the Southeast. If development occurs, it will happen once the trough moves out and the ridge can build in over the eastern Gulf of Mexico by Thursday. From a meteorological aspect, when old fronts get stuck in the Gulf of Mexico and high pressure systems build north of a front, they add spin into the front and that can spin up tropical lows along the front. Martin,
Thanks for that. Nobody is talking about it up here, but it looks like my weekend bike riding will have to be carefully planned.

It has been messy here all day. I got poured on during my early morning run on the beach. Those in the EOC here are getting a little wiggy about the system down south.........

To what extent will all this rain alleviate the drought the southeast has been suffering? Especially the dry lakes etc.

It would take a few weeks of rain to fill the lakes. I would think something like 3 or 4 very wet hurricanes. This is going to make things wet and muddy.
