just want to reconfirm that we are doing a get together the week of Carnival....the night of Carnival Parade day itself ( Thursday August 21st ) will be almost impossible to get a dinner reservation unless we do it now..and even than it will be insanely noisy and busy...I am suggesting either Wednesday or Friday evening....the other change in the usual format is I have just agreed in addition to running the fishing boat I run, to also run a 150 passenger Whale Watch boat this summer....so instead of the usual harbor cruise on the fishing boat we do....maybe a morning whale watch with me???...I think on Wednesday and Thursday I will be taking the 10 oclock trip, back at 1...then we reconvene for dinner?
Kevin??..Jeff??..anyone else??..what do you think?

We'll be there. Kate, given her misadventures on the ocean, suggests that she and I pass on the whale watch. I, with my love of crowds (not), prefer to pass on parade day. We could do dinner on either Wednesday or Friday. If nobody has a preference then I vote for dinner on Wednesday.

today was a low brow get together, as the big get together will be at the Buffett show in three weeks.....what a great day on the Cape...

KevinS and Kate came into town and we went out for a great dinner at Fanizzis by the Sea in P Town.....Kevin made a homemade batch of vanilla rhum and gave me a pint....most of which is gone already...its terrific stuff Kevin!

mes amis...I have already been through this once with a daughter...I am Sicilian..we prefer straight edges......LOL...but in all seriousness...my tone and my stares are usually more than enough..they still work on college basketball players and hard assed mates on the boat... so they will work on boyfriends

A good time was had by all. It was great to see Mike, Wendy, and Lena again. The Mustard Nut Encrusted Cod at Fanizzis was a good recommendation, and I'll order it again. Mike and Wendy might have liked the vanilla rum, but Mike left us with a gift of steamers, littlenecks, striped bass, and lemon sole which has modified our dinner plans for the week. The steamers and striped bass were enjoyed on Sunday, the littlenecks went into a seafood stew last night, and plans are afoot for the lemon sole. Thanks Mike!

now it looks like I am going to be back on Cape for Labor Day weekend....long story....Im leaving this Monday but am planning either a Thursday night or Friday morning return and than outta here again Sunday night late....so if you want to come to P Town and do dinner let me know.....I'll be running the whale watch boat that Saturday so if you want to go see whales - that could happen too...

I had BETTER be home by Sunday evening...the Cape mass exodus on Monday is epic, and pictures of the mess usually get on the Boston Globe front page on Tuesday..we re talking 15 miles of stop and go gridlock to the bridge here....I will be long gone...Monday we are taking the boat out for a day on Squam Lake ( where On Golden Pond was filmed ) and going to one of the islands for a quiet picnic...looks like a great forecast for next week....seasonably cool in northern New England..you'll have a blast

2 years ago we left for Cape Ann on Labor Day and saw the thousands of cars leaving the Cape- I think they are still there. LOL

I just arrived.....traffic was heavy but moving getting over the bridge.....the Cape is still jumping.....I had to eat at the bar in my favorite Wellfleet restaurant tonight...no chance for a table at all.....well the ship I live on finally got sold....its on its way to the Caspian Sea to house offshore oil drilling workers...she leaves on Tuesday :-(((((.......from what I hear there is going to be a farewell party on it tomorrow night that will be like none other in town in recent memory.....catered....bands......extraordinary amounts of liquor.....I'm told I will see the sun rise Saturday morning....comparisons to Autour Du Rochers last party are already being made......yikes

still waiting for pics from L&P....got this so far.....taken in the pilothouse....
as to the get together and tailgating at the Buffett show this coming Saturday.....right now they are saying the remnants of Hurricane Hanna will be over New England Saturday, so tailgating looks like it is very much in doubt at this point in time

It better be later than Saturday AM-I flying out of Bangor at 11. The forecast is for later in the day. Otherwise this would be the 4th hurricane I ran into in New England in September. LOL

for those who will be tailgating at Buffett Saturday I am bringing down the 12 x 12 sales tent top I use in front of my shops when we have sidewalk sales....so if the weather doesnt co operate....we will still be dry

West Street Cafe- lunch- lobster roll, haddock sandwich
Gayln's - dinner-softshell steamers, whole lobster, crabcakes, shrimp
Parkside- dinner- clam chowder, stuffed whole lobster and the largest margarita I ever had
Rupununi- lunch- 1/2 doz Maine oysters, large clam chowder, pulled pork with chipotle sauce for Phyl- great blueberry mojito
Jordans Pond-inside the Park- today for lunch after the 3 hour Acadia National Park drive- crabcakes for me and curried chicken for Phyl.
Tonight is Maggies and tomorrow night is Cafe This Way. Friday is open. Wanted to see what was around.

Well now- I put Maggies up there with the best of them- Lobster crepes for me- basically lobster thermidor inside crepes and Phyl had crabcakes- both were wonderful and the place has a nice vibe so much so that we made reservations for Friday night.

At this point in time, with a forecast of heavy rain and high winds associated with Hanna...our plans are to "tailgate" in the comfort of our friends home in nearby Providence and go to the show at the last minute......if the forecast changes,we will revisit the extravagant plans we had for an all day New England Clambake tailgating party in the VIP parking lot......but for now.....it isnt going to happen for us at least...too bad...it would have been fun...such is life
