Hi everyone, new to the board. My fiance and I are staying at the Villa Piment in June for our honeymoon. We were curious if anyone else has stayed here yet? Also with the US dollar/Euro situation being tough; does anyone have any suggestion on where to buy groceries for the week?

You'll find an exhaustive restaurant list if you follow the links in the first "pinned" post on the restaurant board. At the end of the restaurant list you'll find a list of grocery stores and butchers, as well as their hours. Most people seem to shop at Match, with Oasis as the second favorite. I shop at those two, plus pick up the odd item or two at whichever grocery is closest.
You'll find good information in the restaurant forum. If you just want to cut to the chase then you'll find the restaurant (and grocery) list at this link.
A number of recent visitors have said that while Match gives the best exchange rate, and readily accepts dollars, the prices seem to be a bit higher than Oasis, which also gives a decent exchange rate and also accepts dollars. Your mileage may vary.

Stayed at Villa Piment in November and loved it. It is fairly luxurious for a small villa. It has a wonderful view of Anse de Cayes from the deck/pool/eating area. There is a small grocery in town at the bottom of the hill - maybe a 3 minute walk - good for small. daily trips but I would go to Match or Oasis for the big run (I prefer Oasis). There is a very nice gas grill and we ended up cooking in 2 or 3 nights. I also recommend 4wd. Piment is on a pretty steep hill and would be impossible to climb if damp/wet.
Feel free to contact me should you want additional info

I went for my honeymoon last August. We absolutely loved it. The pool was a good size, great views. The surround-sound music was great for cooking dinner and lounging afterwards. The hot tub was great too. We are going back in July but are bringing 2 friends with us so Piment wasn't an option. Otherwise we would have loved to stay there again.
A maid comes everyday, she is great, very nice. Not obtrusive. It felt very private, never felt anyone was watching us. We liked the location a lot and wanted to stay in the area. St. Jean, Lorient and Saline were our favorite beaches. Ah, I can't wait to go back to St. Barth again.
Prices are very high. Drinks can be 12 euro. Be careful about using a credit card. We found out AFTER that our credit card charged us a $20 conversion fee EVERYTIME WE USED IT! We used it a lot!! So our trip ended up costing us an arm and a leg. This year we are going with a lot more euros and a different credit card. So find out what the conversion rates are per card.
Have fun and enjoy!

Please do tell us so I make sure I never get one. Amex is 2 % and CitiBank is 3 %.

I talked with a couple last year who were there for 10 days and loved it. Tried to book it this year and was told it was sold and there were not taking reservations. Maybe it has closed and the new owners are excepting reservations.
