Wimco villa CDM, Mont Jean new
      #942 - 11/18/02 12:39 PM

I'll kick off the new section of SBH Online with a question about this villa. We are scheduled to arrive on 12/7-12/17. The only time I have seen this villa mentioned is Michael's post about staying here from 12/1-12/7. Now, if I can only get him to log on when he get's there to give me up to date info!!! [smile]

What I know about the villa:

Location: Mont Jean. Okay, here is a question...Mont Jean is located in Point Milou. What's the difference???

Privacy: I see a fence/wall in one of the pictures. Wondering about the pool/lounge area.

Sun: is this a a.m. or p.m. sun range?

Wind: is this considered to be in the breezy part of PM?

Bedroom: Wimco does not have any pictures of the bedroom or bathroom posted for this villa. Any thoughts from previous visitors?

Any other information would be greatly appreciated!

Our only experience with other Wimco rentals is "C Per" (La Perla) on Baie Rouge/SXM where we rented last July and December. Looking forward in less than three weeks to seeing CDM for myself.

Thanks in advance for your input. Best regards, Erma

Erma, Mont Jean is to the right of what is called Point Milou. It is the only gated community that I know of on St. Barth's. All of the properties are spaced fairly far apart and all appear to be extremely nicely landscaped. I have just returned from St. Barth's and stayed at Villa Atalante in Point Milou and I would say that these are in general the nicest areas. More than likely you get the morning sun there. I would think that all the villas there have a lot of privacy. All of Point Milou is breezy but if they put the pool in the back of the house away from the ocean view it is probably more breezy there. I guarantee that you will love the Mont Jean area no matter what.

Hi Steve there is another gated community in SBH at the end of Petit cul de Sac.The gates there do not open automatically as they do in Mont Jean, you actually have to have the code.

Irma, Don't know about Mike but my wife and I have rented CDM 11/30 to 12/7 this Dec. I have stayed in PM and believe it to be one of the nicer areas. I have also jogged the whole area and the gated area of Mont Jean is fabulous. I looked at CDM but didn't think we cold afford but WIMCO had a special price (2k) because the house is being or has just been renovated. We took as a 1-br but bumped to 2-br (2.5k) as my brother-in-law is coming along for the ride. I understand not all the BR's are fininshed (4?). They assusred me I would not see workman and have been told the work is actually complete. The appeal of this villa for us was the privacy of the area, the "Chants de Mer", and the large in and out living spaces. Will try to email more infoo upon our arrival but access is limited. Besides, what could you do the week of departure. I have never been disappointed by our accomodations,, usually overjoyed, how can a picture do justice to SB.

David, I am SO sorry - I just got your name mixed up. It was you for sure I remember reading about on cieux. Again, sorry...

I am sure that we will like the villa because Deirdre knows our taste from our two trips last year. I was asking some of the questions, especially about the sun, for planning purposes! If we have good a.m. sun then we'll probably hang out at the house and go to the beach in the afternoon (or opposite if p.m. sun...).

Glad to hear about the renovations and hope they are indeed complete. Regarding pictures-I am not one for surprises. I just wondered why they had several pictures of a few areas of the house but none of the bedrooms or bathrooms. Maybe even those are part of the changes?? I did ask for a view of the rooms but I guess they were not able to send them.

Nick mentioned that the gate is opened by just driving up to it-do you know the point of this? Just curious. La Perla had an electric gate to the house and a guard outside the entrance to the Baie Rouge villas (in Terres Basses) from 6 p.m.-6 a.m.-but then again that was SXM... I wonder why they would even put up a gate.

I wish you a safe trip and hope you have a great time! When does your flight from SBH arrive in SXM? We are scheduled on the 3:45 A.C. to SBH. We will probably pass each other but I hope to use Gate 10!

David-thanks for your time responding to this post. Cheers to CDM and SBH!

Best regards, Erma

Erma, is CDM the same as villa chant de la mare as listed by St. Barth Properties? If so, we just stayed next to it at Villa Atalante.

Erma, No problem on the name game. No pictures of B/R's because if renovations is my guess. On my walks I have seen people go in an out the gate, it's just a drop arm like a parking lot, maybe automatic or they might provide a clicker. The is what looks to be a caretakers cottage with a lady in residence at the entrance by the gate. Not sure what time our return flt from SB to SXM is, I know it's before 3:45. Are you coming in from SXM? If so we'll have to make arrangments for a passing hello/goodbye. Later DH

Steve,

I checked it out and there are two villas with the same name in Point Milou. Here is the link to the SB Prop offering: http://www.stbarth.com/Villas/chant.shtm and here is the Wimco/SiBarth offering: http://www2.wimco.com/villas/villadescription.asp?productbaseid=897380&assetid=1203111

I am looking forward to seeing CDM very soon!

Take care,

Erma

David,

We are arriving in SXM at 2:50 (as long as Delta holds up there side of the deal and does indeed start this service...) and then we fly on A.C. 3:45 to SBH.

Are you getting excited about leaving? I'm sure so since your departure time is nearing very quickly.

Talk to you later, Erma

David,

I really hate to hear you are having any issues regarding your upcoming trip. I do know how you feel-my husband got hurt pretty bad last year right before our highly anticipated trip to Barbados, Bequia and PSV. Had to cancel with two weeks to go. Thankfully all parties involved were very kind and let us reschedule. I hope you are able to resolve the child care issues, have a pleasant Thanksgiving and then head to SBH.

We live in more North East GA-usually one of these identifies our area: next to the City of Braselton, Chateau Elan, Road Atlanta area. Where are you in N.C.? We ride our motorcycles in N.C. quite a bit and visit my friends family home in Hendersonville.

Sorry to hear we will miss each other in route-I sure hope everything works out for your trip. Keep me posted-now you can PM me since you registered if you prefer.

Best of luck, Erma
