Honeymoon suggestions?
      #138966 - 08/13/08 07:14 AM

Hi folks,

This will be our first time to St. Barths. We're looking for a villa that is in a quiet area that is also private and has a pool and no children. We've had some suggestions like Wimco's Villa SIB VEN in the Grand Cul de Sac. Does anyone know if this fits the bill? I would appreciate any thoughts.

Thanks everyone for your energy and effort on this site. I am really impressed.

Take care, Tony

Here is a feature that may be a help to you. You will have a wide range of villas with the price range VEN lists for at different times of the year and can look at 2 and 3 bedroom unit that can be rented as a 1 bedroom. There are 5 or 6 beaches you should make a point to try out on your stay so don't be too caught up in staying on or at the beach unless that is where you want to be. Remember, most people go there to go to the beach so they are playing in your back yard as it were. There are a couple of good island maps floating aound on the site so study them a bit and get familiar with the island. It's only 8 miles as the crow flys from tip to tip so you can get from one end to the other in about 15 - 20 minutes generally. Look at a lot of villas like these and see what you think:

That's a variety to start with

Hubby and I stayed in Villa Rocamodour in June. We booked it through St. Barth properties. It was a bit over 2K, I think, after taxes and insurance. We had the time of our lives. It sits high on a hill and has a beautiful view of Flamands. With its own pool, it is perfect!!! We could have spent much more but I didn't think it was worth it after I saw what we got. Couldn't have asked for anything more.

Two suggestions.

Look at Villa Triagoz. http://www.villa-triagoz.com/

It is a five minute walk (admittedly a tough five minute walk up/down a hill) from Flammands (Isle de France) which is a great beach. Other than one small corner of the deck, the place is secluded (nobody can see in). It has great ocean views from the deck and from the master bedroom. The pool is relatively large and about four feet deep. It was a great way to start a day. My wife and I just spent our 10th anniversary there and were thrilled.

Also, right across the road is Flammands Blue. I don't have the website at hand, but it also looks wonderful.

That's it.
For both of them, there is a very short walk down a hill to IDF and then out to Flammands.
The views from both are high enough to make things interesting (better at Blue I believe, but I'm not sure), but the places are low enough that the beach is a walk rather than a drive.

I can highly recommend Mouina via the St Barths Properties website...we have stayed there 3 times and love it! Lots of sun...great view...fully air conditioned...heated pool...privacy...security via a fence and gate.

http://www.stbarth.com/Villas/mouin.shtm

We stayed an Leana--nice place; however, not much sun...small pool that was not heated when we stayed there...bedroom and living room/Kitchen are different buildings. Very compact but nicely furnished.

Friends of mine have stayed at Le Perchoir twice and speak of it in near religious terms.

For my 2 cents', I'll highly recommend Sud Ouest. My wife and I stayed there on our honeymoon this past May, and thought it was fantastic.

Sud Ouest overlooks Corossol, and while it's only a few hundred yards off the main road and does have a couple other villas around it, you'd never know it, as you are completely surrounded either by vegetation or a privacy wall, and it's very quiet - never heard any other folks or cars the whole time we were there. It's plenty large for a newlywed couple, and has about everything you need, including a great pool. It's maybe 5 minutes from both Gustavia and St. Jean, so pretty centrally located.

We used St. Barths Properties and had a great experience - you can check out the villa on their site.

Congrats!
Ron

Just got back from our honeymoon at SIB AUM in St Jean http://www.wimco.com/villas/villa.aspx?pid=899834

It was perfect for us...very private, but still close to everything. you can easily walk down to St Jean. has a great view of the bay and airport. The pool is perfect with rafts to float on all day. It has a really cool outdoor kitchen and dining area. The living room is fully screened so you can escape from the mosquitos. The bedroom is a/c to escape from the heat. :)

The best part is the awning outside over these 2 chairs and tables where you can just sit and stare all day long in the shade. have fun!
