Wife and I are considering our first trip back since our Honeymoon in July 06 when we stayed at Guanahani. Loved everything about the resort but we know that a villa is what we want for a return visit. The most important things we would be looking for are a well kept place with a lots of privacy. A pool and maybe hot tub as well. Lots of sun especially in the afternoon with sunset views. We would be coming in May June or July so that would effect the location for a good view of the sunset. A decent kitchen/living area with indoor and outdoor dining and lounging areas. Wireless internet and a good sound system/ipod hookup would be big plus. Ive looked at hundreds of villas online over the last couple years since our honeymoon but it is so hard to get an idea of the privacy and actual views from pictures online. My first thought is something in the Colombier area facing west would be best chance for great views. Any suggestions?

Hi dhall, There are so many villas on SBH and everyone has their own favorite(s). A price range would be helpful in narrowing down the list. Both St Barth Properties and WIMCO receive high ratings from forum members and their agents (again, posters have their favorites) are very knowledgeable about the properties. This forum has great info on many specific villas. You can use the search feature to find relevant posts and reviews. I have contacted folks who have kindly sent additional photos and info, and have done the same for others. Hope this helps...honestly, villa "shopping" is my favorite part of planning the trip...of course, its much more fun than buying for airline tickets these days!

Rosita's new villa is now my dream villa. I love everything about it. It's open interior, and outdoor spaces. The location (L'Orient), the views, the privacy, the pool, the attention to detail, the furnishings, and amenities. This villa has it all.

Yeah she sent me some great pics from the villa. Any idea what the sunset view would be in Early Summer? I guess it would be basically over the runway area of St Jean? Baleine was my first thought to meet our desires but the location in L'Orient is really attractive since we found ourselves frequenting the beach at St Jean or Saline. Definatley gonna make the hike over to Columbier next trip no matter where we are staying.

FYI on common spelling mistake(s): Lorient and Colombier :-) As for sunset location, you are spot on. This was taken about 6:15 this past week and as you can see you never get the great Colombier sink-into-the-sea sunsets due to the hills.

Typing to fast and not spell checking. My wife's family is from Colombia and it gets on her nerves horribly when people spell it Columbia. Good thing she doesn't read the board hehe.
Is that pic from the deck at les jardins d'Emmanuel?
Will most any villa looking west in the hills above Colombier have a good "sink into the sea" sunset year round?

That pic was from Eden Rock, but there wouldn't be that much difference.
Yes, on Colombier and Corossol, depending on how they are situated.

You should look at Baleine- Rosita's other villa- your description sounds right on.

dhall...we're in SBH right now and are staying at SIB SAS in St. Jean. It has everything you listed and more. Pool, hot tub, sunset views, iPod hookup w/indoor and outdoor speakers (very important), and beautifully appointed. It's truly paradise found!
Good luck with your choice! Hard to go wrong in SBH.
