fyi, I think some people were looking for 5/3 during the day, so they wouldn't have to stay overnight. I don't think the evening was in play for that reason...

either time/day is fine with us if we're not doing it at our restaurant. If we are, brunch is the only time available (Sat. night is too busy).

L,
I think Andy introduced the AM concept and that was only for Sunday morning. Maybe I missed other comments.

I believe it was EARL and patchdad (Margie & Rod from the Philly area) who wanted daytime on the 3rd. If we have an event on Saturday night it excludes people who are willing to travel but do not want to spend the money on a hotel room to stay overnight, which I would prefer not to do. Why don't we do brunch/lunch on either Sat. or Sun. and if the party continues into the evening, all the better?

To clarify, I prefer not to exclude those people. (I don't have to stay overnight, I live here.)

Actually I was originally OK with daytime- 5/3 or 4 but since have been invited to a Bat Mitzvah on the 3rd so I can only make the 4th. That's why JEK started the checkoff above. Whatever works for the majority.

We can make anytime on Sat, or brunch on the 4th...just want to be able to hit the road by noon on Sunday to drive back to Hampton Va.

For crissakes...the democrats are having an easier time picking a nominee than you guys are picking a date for lunch.

Mostly due to on-again, off-again Andy :-)

He mandates a Sunday brunch and then says to go ahead and don;t worry about him and then wants to know where the event is going to be held. I'm going to start another poll . . .

Blame me for the economy too. I'm not entitled to know if I am going to drive 2 hours or 4? It's a simple request.

Seems like we may have chosen a May 4 Sunday brunch - sounds great. We offer our home in Rockville, MD a few short minutes off Route 270 and not far from the 495 beltway. The home is large and can fit a big group. Another has mentioned a restaurant and another local has mentioned their home in Chevy Chase, which is not far from us either. All we ask is to get a good idea of who is coming on the chosen date if it is at our home. What say you? Another vote or an executive decision? We've already framed 2 of Eddie's pics for the event. -Darin and Lucie

Darin & Lucie,

That's a nice offer, sounds fine to me, I'll be happy to contribute some food and/or drinks, as I'm sure many of us will be. I vote for your house for brunch on May 4th. Let's get this thing settled so we can get on with figuring out what kind of champagne to drink!!!!

If Rockville is too far for the mid-Atlantic crowd, I am happy to offer the restaurant that we're part owners of, which is in Columbia. It's a little closer to the Philly people. Then again, it's further away for the Virginia crowd.

JEK, what say you? Another vote?

I voted for Sunday to make it easier for Andy. I assume others did too. If Andy's not coming now, does it make it easier to reconsider Saturday night?

I can't do it Sat. night...

We really have got to get this together, people. Other people besides Andy wanted brunch so that they could travel and not stay overnight, so let's stick with that.

One thing we should take into consideration: our restaurant is indoors, and on a beautiful day it would be nice to have it at a house so that we can be outdoors too. So... my recommendation is to stick with the plan and have it at Darin & Lucie's on May 4th. Andy, if the extra 20 minutes is too far then we'll catch you next time...

thanks,
Lynn

Lynn I don't care. The only reason I was in was because you mentioned it to all of us on the island when you came to our lunch how nice it would be to come to your restaurant, etc. 2 hours is stretching it- 2 1/2 is too much.
I'm done.
