Must Be In The Front Row - Cata Cup

One of the marks for this afternoon's Cata Cup race is directly offshore from our villa. It's quite nice to kick back on a chaise, enjoy "un coupe", and watch the sailing action from a front row seat.

After day 1, it looks like the elite group will feature an interesting battle between the team led by Franck Cammas and the one led by Morgan Lagravière, a rapidly rising young (27) star who earlier in the year was chosen to skipper Safran in the next Vendee Globe ... kinda like Tom Brady (or, for statisticians, Peyton Manning) vs. Andrew Luck but head to head ...

The elite skippers certainly make things more interesting. Some also participate in Les Voiles.

The mark has moved a bit to the West, but there is still one in front of the villa. We're off to La Gloriette for lunch, so we may miss today's races.

There's a clear leader this afternoon. Look to the left of the red headsail on the left side of the picture. Magnification will be needed, LOL. It's fine realtime.

Morgan Lagravière and Arnaud Jarlegan (Architectonik) took top honors in the Saint-Barth Cata Cup, as first-time participants in the event. The two sailors are specialists in offshore racing, giving them an advantage in battling the challenging weather conditions during the four days of racing: conditions that made it impossible to race on Sunday. Franck Cammas and Matthieu Vandame (ODP1) and Billy Besson and Marie Riou (Nikki Beach) complete the podium.

Thanks Ellen. Whether at home or on the road, you manage to come through with the answers.

Hi Amy, currently checking in from 5E at 35,000 ft somewhere between Vegas and JFK...back in NY before dinner...

Safe travels.

Today is my first day back at work-I am at the point where I would rather be on island all the time. I finished with a cold and Phil had a stomach bug over the weekend-not pleasant. We saw NO ONE! Just got to see the boys today.
