Tim and John,
We have been reading previous threads on the virus in the Forum. Are either of you suggesting this is becoming a more worrisome problem in SBH or just a reminder to take precautions as always?

A suggestion of an increase circulation of Chikungunya had been observed in the weeks before Gonzalo.
The number quoted in the article is a few weeks old; the following week, 30 cases were clinically diagnosed.
The low number for the next week (the last on the graph below) was not considered reliable due to some disruption of medical services and reporting related to the storm.
It will be interesting to see the effects of Gonzalo. Intuitively, one would expect increased circulation due to the rains producing more breeding sites for mosquitoes but washing away of mosquito larvae by floods brought by a cyclone is believed to have helped bring Réunion Island's massive outbreak under some control in 2006.
