IPhone 4S

Since Virgin Mobile is a stepchild, iPhone 4s is its top offering. They are now discounting it I guess in anticipation of the 5s or 6. I like VMs pricing so I am wondering if its worth it. $383.00 with no contract. 4s will be updated with iOS 7.

I would get the 5 if it were offered but it isn't. I suppose I could wait for the next generation and hope VM offers the 5 but I cringe at the price.

be warned.....battery life sucks on both the 4s and 5..I have a Mophie Case which gives me extra battery life or some days I wouldn't make it through the day

Battery drains on all smartphones if all the apps are running especially location, maps etc. I disable those until I need them

yeah when I am driving to the Cape with Pandora and Waze running, I have to be plugged in to my cigarette lighter or the battery will plummet

$99 on the Apple Store

The 4 is $0

Android phones that have similar or slightly above specs to iPhone 4S seem to cost a bit less, e.g. the Sony Xperia S I have is about ~$350 unlocked in the US.

Quite a decent price for an iPhone anyway.

I've got a scratch on my year-old Xperia S and it's a good excuse to start to think if HTC One or S4 would make sense :) Laura got a few years older Sony Ericsson with a keyboard and she really needs an upgrade, to replace the physical keyboard she thinks a big screen phone could be the way to go. I'm a bit suspicious if 5S will cause any boners so there's a slot for phone of a year before 6 arrives..

A timely thread as my phones 3g is broken on my phone..My phone isnt smart anymore...And of course it broke 10 days after my warranty expired.

I looked at the VM idea also, but doing the math, it doesn't make sense for us. I have the 4, Tom has the 5. The cost of the phone with VM ( if Tom got the 4s) makes it unreasonable compared to prices from Verizon, and our plan. We don't need unlimited, though.
