Does Wishing Well take plastic yet? In the early days it was Cash Euros only.

If you don't talk French be prepared to wait a while. It's a locals hangout with Creole island food. Some like and some don't. Bring euros just in case.

We've eaten there a few times and really enjoyed it. Our bad French wasn't a problem at all.

My last dining experience there with friends a couple of years ago was a disaster, and we vowed never to go back. The problem may have been that WW was busy that night, but that shouldn't be an excuse for poor food, ridiculous service, and rudeness.

Tim- I think they don't really care at least they give that impression. I have waved and waved just to get thier attention for a menu or glass of wine. Finally I get up and pardon myself and get noticed.

Geez I never got any of that....but it also wasn't very busy either...always have had a nice creole dinner in a v ery laid back atmosphere.....even one night I was grilling wahoo at the bungalow and I ran down to WW to buy some of her spicy green creole sauce and she just gave it to me

It's the one time I can say it was because of high season- it was busy. But we haven't been there in 2 years either.

put me in the negative experience camp as well. Normally a big fan of the off the beaten path places, but service was awful and food pretty bad as well. Sort of a home cooking sort of deal, but with pretty low grade ingredients and presentation.

I know that some folks have had a great experiences here and that is - well great.
The one and only time we went here it was easily the worst dining experience we've had on St. Barths.
We were the only ones there (5 of us), the food was bad, and the service was barely there.
Hope others enjoy it - but we have not.

Same here Mike. I think on a couple of ocassions we have had to wait some but, since we are rarely in a hurry we held out and we were treated with a nice meal and the price was very reasonable. I think sbhlover aka Jeff has had good experiences there as well. As with anything I guess your mileage may vary....

She does take plastic.
I'm surprised at the negative reviews above, I like it. Chose it for my birthday last year.
The only place where I have finished a main course and immediately ordered the same a second time, but then I am a sucker for goat curry.

Jim...my guess is they cant handle being slammed....my guess is they neither have the staff or the kitchen with the skill or system to handle it...so it goes to hell in a handbag fast....thats only a guess..because I too have had great meals there but in the dead of June with hardly anyone there

Both times I went it was quiet, Jun/Oct.
Found the staff friendly (I was with locals) food awful...last time one of my construction guys said "Jeff, thought YOU wanted eat there---we never do."
Tab (I assumed she just took E's) was REALLY cheap, though.

well I had an eggplant fritter with a spicy dipping sauce that was out of this world good that I have been trying unsuccessfully to recreate at home....than I had a combo creole chicken/mahi dish that was excellent as well.....a few beers...good to go
who knows????...inconsistency in St Barts restaurants is the least kept secret for sure
