I was wondering how many weeks of vacation does everyone get a year and of those weeks how many are spent on SBH?

Since we are in Resort Retail....only 10 days for fun and spend it all on SBH....twice a year 10 days each for business trips.....try to sneak away for a few 4 day weekends here and there.....

Before we retired, we had earned 6 weeks vacation a year (after 30 years in the Cdn Gov't) and were spending a month or more )
Since retiring, we spend 1/3 of the year
And it still isn't enough !

This year: a month and a half in Italy and 2 1/2 weeks in SBH, so a total of about 9 weeks. That's unusual though; my husband changed jobs and as part of his "signing bonus" they let us take this extra long vacay. Usually: 5-6 weeks, 2+ of which we spend in SBH. Plus long weekends, Christmas, Thanksgiving week, etc. Hope to spend more time in the coming years, our intent is to spend 3 months in SBH per year starting in 2012 or 13. Like Lloyd said... still not enough :-)

Friends and family and especially our tourist customers tell us living and working in a world class beach and mountain resort means we are always on vacation
We do get to enjoy the amenities a lot but a vacation its not....I guess when we add up all our long weekends to assorted places and the St BArts trip or trips depending on the year it comes to about 3 or 4 weeks

Five weeks a year vacation - hell, I'm old and have been in the workforce a while! We try to do two trips a year to SBH. Two weeks around Thanksgiving and one week in the Spring. It ain't never enough!

Like Eve, Im also in money mgmt, so as long as i can be available to my clients, nobody cares where i am. Until 3 yrs ago, i almost never took more than 1 week at a time, maybe 4 -5 wks total, usually did 5-6 trip. Had only been to SBH three times. With wi-fi being in most of the villas though, i took a week in'09 & returned to SBH, 10 days in '10 & am booked for 2 weeks in '11. Plus the smaller trips. For me, i need at least a week to justify the time spent travelling.

Not enough, that's for sure. Maybe two weeks. Somehow my employer has only an anti vacation policy, which means only the bosses are supposed to take vacations. Stinks on ice.
I just stopped by this site for a little pick me up and an hour later I'm looking at villas, trying like hell to get a trip on the books. I so thoroughly enjoy this site!

We stated out at one week, then to 10 days, then 2 weeks,last year 3 weeks,and this year we are doing 26 days. Next year we are aiming for 1 month.

I want to be like Ricky too. But I am just average 7-10 days in SBH. Being a teacher I can only get away in the summer and around spring break for a week. But wait until I retire.

I get 13 true vacation days right now but it goes up to 20 next year. I also get every other Friday off so those 26 days help out a lot! I guess I have it pretty good b/c I also have comp time so days off aren't the issue for me...it's the fact the my hubby, at least for right now, only gets 15 days per year!
We aren't able to do annual SBH trips yet...too many places we want to visit in the world and only so much time and money  Right now we are trying to go to the island every 2-3 years.

The Vacation Law says
5 weeks for the first year of employment
6 weeks after the first year
There's also a standard "Vacation Money" in additional to the normal salary. It's 50% of your normal salary for the vacation time (one month). In many jobs you can change that to extra vacation if you don't want the extra money -- also sometimes recommended so that the company saves money.

5 Weeks. Two on SBH (should be more); the rest of the time spent making long weekends: to Paris, flying to New England beaches and other scenic spots, and doing home improvement "fun" projects!

I receive 6 weeks of vacation, but my beau only receives 2 weeks, so he is only able to spend a week on the island with me. I'm joined on my second trip each year with either family members or good friends. So, about 3 weeks for me personally. It's great!
