St Barts Snorkeling and Scuba Diving

St Barts shores are excellent for snorkeling and it is a popular activity on the island. There are several shops that rent snorkeling and have half and full day off-shore trips. St. Barths is situated on a coral plate, there are reefs, caves, canyons and several shipwrecks in the area. Sea turtles, rays, eels, tarpon fish, and baby nurse sharks are very common in the waters surrounding St Barts.

Some of the best places to snorkel on St Barts (SBH)

Lorient beach
A great place to see sea turtles.

Colombier beach
About a 15 minutes hike from Flamands. Snorkel to the far right (when you are facing the ocean).

Petit de Anse
Just past Flamands. There are stone steps leading to the water. A good place for turtles and parrotfish.

Forchue Island
A dive boat destination - the best snorkeling on SBH is actually not on the island - take a half day boat trip with one of the island's dive companies to an underwater nature preserve to experience the best snorkeling.
St Barts Scuba Diving

St Barts Scuba Diving

Excellent dives can be had around St. Barts (but not from shore -- you'll need to book with one of the island's dive companies). Expect to see sea turtles, barracudas, angel fish, eels, tarpoon fish, spiny lobsters and an amazing display of colorful coral.

For those who have never scuba dived before, you can take a guided dive with a dive professional which is a fantastic experience that we would highly recommend
