House Restaurant:
Voted the Best Overall Restaurant in the 2004 Best of St. Barths Awards.
Located in Gustavia, with a lovely view of the harbor, The Wall House
offers a wonderful and varied menu of French-inspired dishes. The daily
five course prix fixe menu is one of the best values on the island. Reservations
are highly recommended.

 Zanzibarth
Restaurant:
Three seasons into business, Zanzibarth restaurant which is located in
Saint-Jean, still maintains an edge on sleek, sophisticated dining. While
some critics bristle at the un-St Barth-like decor, many urban visitors
appreciate the dramatic minimalist chic, the white-drenched hi-tech bar
and lounge, and the Franco-Belgian and Italian dishes. This year, the
Zanzibarth is proposing a special menu for gourmets, "all around
Black Truffles". The bar is open from 6 pm until 1am and offers a
long list of martini drinks and cocktails.

Barths is located in Gustavia on the Harbor. The food and ambience date
back to an earlier time (which is a good thing). The escargot ravioli,

Au Regal - ($$) A local hangout at the bottom of the

Le Bartoloméo - ($$$$) Le Bartoloméo is a lovely
open air restaurant located at the Guanahani hotel in Grand Cul de Sac.
The highlight of the experience is the wonderful pianist, Charles Darden,
who performs on a regular basis. The food is a blend of French and Caribbean
flavors and is quite good. Every year (usually in November to early December)
the restaurant presents a food festival with a menu created by a well
known chef.

Le Case de l'Isle - ($$$$) A truly
beautiful setting on the beach at the Isle de France hotel in Flamands.
The sensational cheese plate (not recommended as an appetizer -- much
more of a meal) and generous sandwich/salad combos are good bets. Look
for the colorful painted highchairs painted by Andy Hall's (of the Hideaway)
wife. Reservations recommended.

place for lunch. Expect Kiki's love of Thai cooking to influence the varied

tempura. Some of the most usual drinks on the island.

Eddy’s Restaurant - ($$) Eddy’s restaurant
is definitely one of the great values to be had on St. Barths. The restaurant
is located across the street from the Anglican church in Gustavia. A couple
of rhum punches, appetizers, entrees, a bottle of wine, dessert and an
after dinner rhum will probably not run you more than $80. Do not miss
the green papaya salad (we could happily eat it everyday) and the tuna
sushi plate which consists of tuna served four different ways if it is
available. No reservations.

L’esprit de Saline - ($$$-$$$$) Named one of the
"Hot Tables" by Conde Nast magazine, this relative newcomer
to the St. Barths restaurant scene, which was started by Christophe Cretin,
Guillaume Hennequin and J.C. Guy, all formally of Maya's, has been an
instant success. L'espirt is located in Saline and is a rather casual
place for lunch or dinner. The menu changes daily and people are known
to dine here a few times during their stay on St. Barths. Do not miss
the chilled lemon grass rum made from lemon grass grown on the property.

truly charming (a former lawyer in Martinique) and is married to a local

La Mandala - ($$$) La Mandala is owned by the same folks
who own Do Brazil which is a favorite lunch spots. The restaurant is located
on a very steep hill and has sweeping views of Gustavia. The interior
is quite funky and the food is best described as Thai-French fusion cooking.
Kiki Barjettas, the chef at La Mandala and Do Brazil is justifiably considered
one of the best chefs on the island as he produces truly memorable food.
The Mandala for Two appetizer is fantastic.

at the Eden Rock Hotel is definitely a special occasion kind of restaurant.
The view of the water, which is lit up by a spot light and by moonlight,
is spectacular. The service is elegant and formal and the food is wonderful.
Your meal will be supplemented with lots of unexpected palate cleansers
and "gifts" from the chef.

Le Sapotillier - ($$$-$$$$) Owned by the charming Adam
Rajner, this lovely spot serves traditional French classics like seared
fois gras, frog's legs and duck confit. Possibly the most romantic restaurant
in St. Barths especially if you reserve a table in the garden.

Le Select - ($) - Le Select a.k.a. Cheeseburgers in Paradise
is most famous for being the alleged subject of the Jimmy Buffet song
by the same name. It is owned by the unofficial mayor of St. Barths and
is a place you must visit, if only for a cold Caribe or a Ti Punch, during
your time on the island. The food is inexpensive (yes -- they serve cheeseburgers
and they are pretty good) and it is not a bad place to grab a quick lunch.
Le Select really comes to life, however, at night when there is often
live music (once in a blue moon Jimmy Buffet even performs).

Sereno Beach - ($$$) Used to be the West Indies Cafe, then Bou
Bous and was taken over in 2002 by the owners of the Sunset Beach Hotel
from Shelter Island, NY. Has received generally favorable reviews from
those who have been there recently.

Taïwana - ($$$$) - It doesn't advertise and is outrageously
expensive but it has its fans. More than one eajer diner has been thrown

Le Tamarin - Mixed reviews lately - some love it and some think
it is not what it used to be.

Ginette run the entire operation and here "Food is Love". Some

Wall House - ($$) Another great St. Barths value is The
Wall House. The Wall House boasts a wonderful view of Gustavia harbor

prix fixe dinner. The food is a mix of French and Creole and a favorite
of many. Go early and have a drink before dinner at one of the outdoor
tables overlooking the harbor.
