The Guanahani Spa by Clarins at Hôtel Guanahani opens December 15, 2004. Built under the direction of local St. Barts architect, Philippe Stouvenot, the almost 5,000-square-foot oceanview spa will have an open-air design featuring rich woods and natural stone.

An entry of softly cascading water will add to the natural, breezy feeling of the tropical trees, lush gardens, and lily pond.

Eight treatment rooms, some with ocean views, offer a variety of massages and facial and body treatments, including hydrotherapy. Two of the treatment rooms can be used for couples; one for Vichy treatments; one has a flotation bed, and four of the rooms have outdoor showers and private patios for outdoor massages. A shaded relaxation area around the pond has a huge Indonesian-style daybed for lounging on pillows.

A swimming pool, a hammam, and herbal tea room are available too. There is also a full-service beauty salon and a boutique with beauty products and gift items.

To complement this uniquely St. Barts design, Hôtel Guanahani has joined forces with Paris-based Clarins, a European leader in natural beauty care and products. Signature Clarins spa experiences include:

• Redefine: Safflower Fruit Salt Body Scrub, Detoxifying Hydrotherapy Jet Bath,
Contouring Detox Body Wrap

•Revive: Safflower Fruit Salt Body Scrub, Energizing Hydrotherapy Jet Bath,
Revitalizing Detox Body Wrap

•Relax: Lavender Fruit Salt Body Scrub, Soothing Hydrotherapy Jet Bath,
Replenishing Detox Body Wrap

The spa features 3-, 5-, and 7-day spa packages with two treatments per day (including a 3-day package for couples) as well as traditional massages from around the world such as Nuad Bo Rarn (Thai), Hot Stone (Indian), and Shiatsu (Japanese).

In addition, the spa is creating water-based massages and treatments exclusive to Guanahani. Clarins’ beauty products are made with the purest plant-based ingredients and essential aromatic oils. Specially trained therapists administer all of the treatments by hand and do not rely on any mechanical equipment. Another French beauty expert, LEONOR GREYL, has been tapped to offer expertise in hair treatment and styling. Since 1968, Greyl’s hair care philosophies have been attracting thousands of visitors to her institute in the heart of Paris. Greyl’s range of 30 products is distributed in prominent department stores and more than 400 exclusive French hair salons.
