To get to St Barts you will first have to get to one of these places.
From St Maarten or San Juan you have options for the short trip to St Barts Island.

Private Charter flights Are also available To St Barts via St Thomas (STT) and St Croix (STX) through St Barth Commuter airlines. These flights can be pricey but are an option of needed.

To St Barts via San Juan Puerto Rico (Flight)
Fly to St Barts from San Juan Puerto Rico, about a one hour flight directly to St. Barts which eliminates the St. Maarten airport (and its many potential hassles). You can take a private charter flight or scheduled service flight from San Juan to St Barts.

To St Barts via St. Maarten (Flight)
A common way to get to St. Barts (SBH) is to fly first to the Dutch side of St. Maarten (SXM) and then take a prop plane for the short, ten minute flight to St. Barts. There are several charter services with scheduled services from St. Maarten (SXM) to St Barts. The flight to St Barts takes about 15 minutes from St Martin airport.

The cab fare from (Princess Juliana SXM) across island to (Grand Case SFG) airport is about $35

If your itinerary takes you through the SFG airport, when you land at SXM, go to the Transfer Info Desk and notify SBC that you have arrived. They may even arrange to take you to SFG.

Getting To St Barts.. Travel Tips and Advice

Planes do not fly to St. Barts at night (no lights at the airport!)
So if flying to St Barts is your preferred transportation option make sure you arrive on St. Maarten in time to catch the last flight of the day at 4:50 p.m. If your timing does not work you can take one of the St Barts ferry services listed below. Another option some St Barts travelers do is to spend a night on St Maarten and leave for St Barts the next day.

St Maarten Airport & Delays
When flying to St Barts through St. Maarten baggage delays/problems may happen. If at all possible, bring only carry-on luggage or at least bring a carry-on bag with a few of your mandatory items. (As mentioned above, you can now also avoid St. Maarten entirely if you fly directly from SJU to SBH.
